Two Major Parcel Carriers Expand with New US Sortation Hubs

Gofo and Veho are expanding their U.S. parcel networks with new high-capacity sortation centers in Newark, Los Angeles, and Lawrenceville. Last-mile delivery drivers can benefit from faster routes, increased parcels, and more efficient operations. Learn how these hubs impact drivers and delivery logistics.

Last-mile delivery drivers are seeing major changes in parcel logistics as Gofo and Veho ramp up their operations across the United States. Both carriers are opening large, high-capacity sortation centers designed to speed up deliveries and streamline routes for drivers on the ground.

Gofo’s National Expansion

Gofo recently launched its first U.S. super hub in Newark, New Jersey, marking a step from regional operations to a national footprint. The 400,000-square-foot facility features cross-belt and narrow-belt sorters, robotic automation, and an intelligent logistics system capable of processing over 40,000 parcels per hour — more than 700,000 parcels daily.

“With Newark now online, Gofo can move goods faster, smarter, and more predictably than ever. From coast to coast, our clients can count on Gofo for faster transit times, lower costs, and greater reliability,” said Marshall Yuan, head of global strategy.

A second hub in Los Angeles is scheduled to begin operations later this year, giving last-mile drivers even more opportunities to pick up, drop off, and route parcels efficiently. Gofo also announced a $150 million investment in the two facilities to cover long-term leases, facility upgrades, robotic systems, IT enhancements, and workforce development.

Gofo currently operates nearly 100 hubs and stations with over 30 linehaul routes, serving 8,000 zip codes — roughly 70 percent of the U.S. population. By year-end, they plan to expand coverage to 10,000 zip codes.

Veho Scales Up in the Southeast

Meanwhile, Veho has opened a 150,000-square-foot distribution center outside Atlanta, Georgia, tripling the size of its previous regional hub. The Lawrenceville facility includes 32 dock doors, up from eight, enabling drivers to handle much higher parcel volumes, especially during peak holiday periods.

“This hub allows Veho to support e-commerce brands better and keep deliveries moving across the Southeast,” said spokesman Evan Wagner. Veho relies on a network of 85,000 crowdsourced drivers, paired with its technology platform, to match parcels with drivers efficiently.

The expansion reflects growing demand in last-mile delivery, with parcel volumes through Veho’s network already doubling compared to peak season last year. The company has also recently extended its coverage to Southern California, now serving 38 percent of the U.S. population across 56 markets.

What This Means for Last-Mile Drivers

For delivery drivers, these new sortation centers mean:

  • Faster, more predictable parcel routing.
  • Increased access to parcels for pick-up and delivery.
  • Opportunities to work in higher-volume, tech-enabled networks.
  • Improved infrastructure that supports driver efficiency during peak seasons.

As the U.S. parcel delivery landscape evolves, drivers who stay familiar with hubs like Gofo’s Newark and Los Angeles facilities, as well as Veho’s Lawrenceville center, will be better positioned to optimize their routes, reduce idle time, and take advantage of growing delivery volumes.
