Averitt Express Generously Donates Record-Setting Amount to St. Jude’s Hospital

Averitt Express employees shattered a record in 2022, as they generously donated an impressive $1.2M dollars to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – the largest donation from them ever! Truck drivers and other members of this incredible team should be proud of their effort for supporting such an important cause.

Averitt continues its history with their impressive annual donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, having just presented the fourth consecutive year of more than $1 million in donation funds. Breaking their own record every year for eight years running, this contribution emphasizes what Averitt calls “The Power of One”–a reminder that every individual can make a difference.

Averitt employees and retirees have contributed to a remarkable milestone – reaching $10 million in donations for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The incredible feat was made possible through the company’s charitable employee-giving program, ‘Averitt Cares for Kids’, with an impressive 94% of associates and members donating $1 each week towards this cause amongst many others. To recognize their efforts even further, Averitt generously added another donation of $750,000 to celebrate the accomplishments by its staff and dedication to community service projects around them.

“I’m humbled by the way our associates come together to support the good works of St. Jude,” said Gary Sasser, Averitt’s chairman and chief executive officer. “For more than 50 years, we’ve been committed to helping others, and I’m even more excited about how we can help the children of St. Jude in the future through Averitt Cares for Kids.”

For over 30 years, Averitt Cares for Kids have contributed generously to charities throughout the nation. But their lasting bond with St Jude began in 1990 when they decided to designate a portion of all contributions towards them. Recently, this long-term relationship reached its climax when an incredible $1.5 million endowment was made from Averitt into one cause -the construction of St Jude’s’ Leukemia and Lymphoma Clinic – that sees 80% of patients during the course of treatment at some point or another.
