The American Trucking Associations (ATA) released a statement recently saying the group was very happy to hear about the new bill being introduced in the Senate last week. This new bill, if passed, would streamline the process of credentialing for professional truck drivers. The Transportation Security Administration Security Threat Assessment Application Modernization Act, would allow drivers to use only one valid TSA background check and can use it while applying for more than one credential. ATA president and CEO Chris Spear says he believes, “this commonsense legislation will ease the burden on many hardworking men and women and allow them to focus on navigating the nation’s highways instead of government bureaucracies.”
ATA Senior Vice President Edwin Gilroy says this bill “will result in significant financial and time savings for truck drivers…..[it is] a tangible step toward a more resilient workforce and American economy.” What do you think? Do you think that fewer steps for multiple credentials would help you?
