Washington D.C. – On July 28 a bill made its way to President Biden’s desk and we hope it will improve domestic semiconductor manufacturing. The legislation, which received bipartisan support and is strongly supported by the commercial transportation sector, was approved 243-187 in the United States House of Representatives, a day after it was passed 64-33 in the Senate. President Biden stated that he would sign it into law as soon as it arrived. Transport Topics reported that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) believes that “this legislation will power innovation nationwide – investing in next-generation technology, broadening our [science, technology, engineering, and mathematics] workforce, and establishing job-creating hubs in communities throughout the country.” Some Republicans have also expressed support for the bill.
Semiconductors are essential to almost every sector of our domestic economy and the demand is just going up. With global supply chain issues, this bill will hopefully improve the situation. Find the full story here.
