A former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker has launched a new trucking company with his father. Ryan Shazier announced his latest post-football business venture on Instagram last week.
“Hard work had always been something that I have loved,” Shazier said in an Instagram caption. “Just like football, business will challenge your body and mind in many ways, and I am excited about the challenges ahead.”
He and his father Vernon Shazier founded Shay Trucking, which focuses on transporting vehicles across the country, according to its website.
Ryan played college football at Ohio State and was a first-round pick for the Steelers in the 2014 NFL Draft. He was almost paralyzed during a tackle in a game against the Cincinatti Bangels in 2017. He had spinal stabilization surgery and had to re-learn how to walk. Ryan announced his retirement from football in 2020.
Shay Transportation is currently looking for drivers in 48 states.
