Landbird is seeking a full-time Diesel Mechanic in the Derry, NH area!
We provide fleet management support to our own transportation businesses in New England. As a Diesel Mechanic, the private fleet you will maintain is for companies operating out of several different locations including Quincy MA, Boston MA, Londonderry NH, and Burlington VT. We are looking for an experienced Full Time/Permanent Diesel Technician to service our fleet of vehicles working Monday-Friday (8-5 PM) Full Time, out of our Derry NH Location with some Overtime as required.
You will have access to a company-provided vehicle for any travel outside of Derry NH. All inspections, issues, and work orders are tracked in a fleet management system. Some repairs will be assigned to a network of vendors. We have a shop in Derry, NH which is our home base. The Diesel Mechanic position reports to the Fleet Operations Manager, who is also an experienced mechanic.

Overview
- Full-time position working Monday-Friday, 8-5 PM, some Overtime may be required
- Communicate with fleet management and operations team regarding reported issues and repair details.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance on diesel engines and drive trains.
- Perform diagnostic tests and inspections on all engine systems.
- Performs preventive Maintenance services and inspects, diagnoses and repairs vehicles.
- Perform vehicle repairs at a worksite or roadside.
Responsibilities
- Extensive travel between various locations to repair a variety of trucks and vehicles. Vans, FedEx Delivery Trucks & Tractor Trailers
- Must have own hand tools however equipment and supplies needed for the job will be provided.
- In-depth understanding of diesel engines and components
- Trouble shoot and Diagnose issues with engines, electrical, brakes and drivetrain
- Utilize vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes and initiate repairs
- Ability to work with hand tools, precision, and other equipment.
- Carrying out routine service and repairs on the engine, including oil and filter changes.
- Repairing or replacing faulty parts as needed.
- Rebuilding engines after their efficient lifetime is over.
- Conducting performance tests on fleet vehicles as needed.
- Preparing and updating records on service work conducted on vehicles.
- Welding and cutting material if required, using tig/mig/stick welding or flame-cutting equipment.
- 12-volt installation and repair – specifically installing anti-theft, lights, video capture, and GPS devices.
- Must have good computer skills, as several diagnostic procedures and precision repairs may be carried out with the aid of laptops or scan tools.
Requirements to be considered
- MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- CDL Class A License Helpful but not required
- DOT Medical Card Helpful but not required
- A clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) without excessive speeding tickets, reckless driving, etc.
- 3-5 Years of Diesel Mechanic experience are required. (Step Van experience a plus)
- High School Diploma or GED; Associates degree in Automotive Technology or equivalent on the job training preferred, but not required.
- Certification in diesel technology as a Diesel Mechanic is helpful.

Pay: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour
