Three years after becoming part of UPS Inc., Roadie has introduced a significant improvement with its “big and bulky” delivery service. This service is designed for same-day, last mile delivery, directly moving products from retailers’ distribution centers through specialized facilities.

The service, RoadieXD, began in Atlanta and has now spread to major cities like New York, Miami, and Dallas, with Chicago and Los Angeles coming soon and further expansions planned for 2024 and 2025. By picking up full truckloads from distribution centers and minimizing handling, RoadieXD ensures efficient and reliable deliveries. It accommodates items up to 200 pounds and 12 feet in length.

According to Roadie, RoadieXD is perfect for deliveries that are typically challenging for traditional carriers due to their size or shape. Roadie’s model facilitates same-day delivery for various products, substantially reducing delivery costs and complexities within a 100-mile radius of their facilities.

“RoadieXD enables retailers to deliver the big screen TV their customers ordered anywhere, even over the threshold in some markets, as quickly as the same day,” Marc Gorlin, Roadie’s founder and CEO, said in a release. “Or their mini-fridge, or their barbecue grill, or a 50-pound bag of dog food. With our new cross-docking solution, all of that becomes easy.”
Utilizing advanced cross-docking methods, Roadie is redefining last mile delivery, making it more efficient for both retailers and consumers. This new service not only boosts the customer experience but also gives a competitive advantage in the rapidly changing industry.
