Target Teams Up with Frontdoor Collective to Test Electric Vans on Delivery Routes

Electric vans are starting to show up on more routes, and Target is putting them to the test in a big way. The retail giant has tapped Frontdoor Collective to run deliveries in the Dallas-Fort Worth area using electric vehicles instead of traditional gas vans.

The setup is designed to prove that EVs can handle high-volume home delivery without slowing drivers down or running out of juice halfway through the day.

The program involves three main players:

Frontdoor Collective is handling the delivery work and uses franchise owners instead of outside independent contractor carriers. Circuit EV Solutions is supplying everything drivers need to keep the vehicles moving, including charging and fleet support. Target is using the test to prepare for its expansion of next-day delivery into 55 markets over the next year.

Right now, the fleet includes 50 Chevrolet BrightDrop vans with an estimated range of 272 miles. That gives drivers enough room to complete heavy routes without worrying about daily charging until they are off the clock.

Circuit EV Solutions says they are solving the biggest pain point with electric fleets, which is dependable charging access and support.

“We’re building the infrastructure backbone that makes high-volume electric delivery possible nationwide,” said Adam Greenberg, CEO at Circuit EV Solutions. “By ensuring fleets have the charging support they need, we’re removing the final barrier to true EV scalability in last-mile logistics.”

The pilot is focused on showing that electric vans can cut tailpipe emissions while still keeping up with on-time parcel drop-offs. For drivers in busy metro areas, the program could shape how routes look in the near future as more companies start switching to electric fleets.

If the test runs smoothly, it will support Target’s push to control more of its own network and move faster on next-day deliveries across major markets.
