On 10/14/21 around 5am, Ward Trucking driver Greg Rupp witnessed a horrible accident on Route 40 near Brownsville. He saw a car on the other side of the intersection hit someone and saw a body flying through the air. Rupp said, “I was like, ‘What did I just witness?’ There was a guy on the pavement trying to get up.”
Rupp pulled his semi to the side of the road and called 911. He then put on his safety vest and used his flashlight to direct traffic to make sure no one else was hit. He waited for first responders and gave his statement.
A Highway Angel award from the Truckload Carriers Association, the national group that represents his profession, was awarded to Greg Rupp for helping someone in need.
