Job Description

We are now hiring for a full time Fleet Mechanic, in Jacksonville, FL.

The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for providing timely, quality and cost-effective repairs and maintenance on medium-to-large duty diesel and gas trucks. Our technicians are responsible for preventative and direct maintenance, troubleshooting, modifications and repairs. Fleet Mechanics will work with our small team to service a variety of customers, including numerous fleets from local FedEx Ground independent contractors.

Your own tools are required, as well as experience performing DOT inspections. Holding an ASE L1 certification or higher, CDL Class B or higher, and experience with welding are plusses, though not required for employment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative inspections with engine/transmissions, tires, belts, hoses, brakes, rotors, oil changes, etc. and schedule and complete maintenance as necessary
  • Perform minor and major mechanical and body repairs on trucks, including electrical and driveability diagnosis, engine and transmission rebuilds
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance on service trucks, including inspection, tire rotation and oil changes
  • Collaborate with mechanics and Service Managers to maintain parts inventory, and communicate needs to appropriate personnel
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with vehicles and plan repairs
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs performed on all vehicles
  • Complete other assigned duties as required

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience performing maintenance on medium to large trucks necessary OR vehicle maintenance certification from an accredited vocational or trade school OR completion of the FedEx Freight, Inc. Apprentice Program with satisfactory performance
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles equipped with manual and automatic transmission
  • Ability to safely mount, dismount and repair tires
  • Ability to perform engine and transmission rebuilds
  • Proficiency in maintenance programs and diagnostic systems strongly preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience working with DEF systems is a plus
  • Must be able to pass a Drug Test and background check (Paid by Employer)
  • Must be able to work independently and perform work during flexible hours
  • Must not have any felonies / violent misdemeanors or drug related misdemeanors in the last 10 years

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32.00 – $37.00 per hour
